Species Overview
Rosenfeld Kidson stocks New Zealand’s largest range of specialist sawn timber, currently about 50 species and most of which are on display in our showroom at 513 Mt. Wellington Highway in Auckland.
Many more species are also available on indent for ‘one-off’ requirements. Our company has the expertise amongst our highly experienced and knowledgeable staff to advise and recommend the suitability of all these species relative to their properties.
Our sawn timber is sourced from most regions of the world and can be segregated accordingly as follows.
Australia
Mainly eucalypt hardwoods carrying PEFC or FSC certification.
Africa
Attractive tropical hardwoods mostly carrying VLO certification, some avaliable as FSC certified.
Europe
Wide range of softwoods and hardwoods mostly available with independent certification.
North America Softwoods
Certified under CSA, SFI or independent schemes such as PEFC and FSC. Mainly ex Canadian West Coast.
North America Hardwoods
Large groups of sustainably managed hardwoods ex Eastern states of USA and Canada.
South America Hardwoods
Hardwoods ex mainly Brazil and Peru, mostly available as FSC100% certified.
New Zealand
Native timbers are mainly medium density podocarps from sustainably managed sources.
Fiji
Wide range of attractive timbers from sustainably managed sources.
South East Asia
Wide range of mainly tropical hardwoods, most of which carry VLO certification.
